Spring is here

Dear Friends,

Spring is definitely here. I hope like me you have been able to enjoy some of this absolutely beautiful weather that we have been having. Whether you have managed to get into the garden or just been able to open your back door, we can see that Spring has arrived. Leaves are starting to come onto the trees, flowers are beginning to build and of course some of us might be able to see new-born lambs out in the field and the days are getting longer. Everything seems new and it’s like the earth has started afresh.

However, often we can very easily forget all that, especially when we think about what is going on in our world today. Ukraine, Russia, the middle East and our global economy at the moment. It’s quite easy for us to focus on all of that, and feel quite hopeless about what is going on right now.

We have just celebrated the feast of Easter. A time when we remember with joy and thanksgiving the resurrection of God’s only begotten son, Jesus Christ. On that first Easter morning, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb where Jesus’s body had been laid, and found that the tomb was empty. She immediately went and told the other disciples that Jesus’s body has been taken away. On hearing this news two of the disciples went back to check the tomb. Mary was left alone feeling hopeless and lost.

It was only when she saw the gardener and after he called her by name that Mary realised that it was in fact Jesus himself. A real sense of joy and hope came over Mary.

During this Eastertide, may we come to know something of the joy and hope that Mary came to know and rejoice in the resurrection of God’s son Jesus Christ.

During this Eastertide, may we come to know something of the joy and hope that Mary came to know and rejoice in the resurrection of God’s son Jesus Christ.

Wishing you all every blessing this Eastertide.

Yours is Christ
