For life, not just for Christmas

For life, not just for Christmas

Dear Friends,

Some of you may have noticed the new addition to our household! Earlier in the year our daughter decided that she would get a dog, and I agreed to help with the care of her. Mila is now 8 months old and has changed life in our household in many different ways.

They say a dog is 'for life and not just for Christmas' and this is quite true. I am not sure how she will be when the Christmas tree goes up and maybe the presents will be a temptation too far… but let’s not worry about that just yet!

As I have reflected on the past months, it is no big surprise to me that Dog spelt backwards is God; for both give and show their love freely and are non-judgmental. The relationship we have with both is one of mutual affection which can be shown in many different ways. We can be devoted to God, just like our dogs are devoted to us, and however many times we get it wrong, they are still there for us. There is nothing more lovely at the end of the day than returning to a puppy that showers you with affection and a very waggly tail! How much more love God will shower us with when we let him into our lives?

Mila has also reminded me of important things in life – she has reminded me that there are times to rest and times to be energetic. This year has been one of change and challenge for me, but it has shown me how much more love we can have if only we open our hearts and minds. Can you open your heart and mind to God this Christmas?

Wishing you all a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas,

Love and prayers.
