New Website Coming Soon
Our current website was first launched in 2009. In the 11 years since much has changed in website design, the technology behind them and the way in which content is viewed - in 2009 tablets and smartphones didn't exist. To bring us right back up-to-date, we will be launching our new website very soon.
St Thomas’s Church is the 12th Century parish church, while St James’s is a chapel of ease dating from about the same period.
We hold regular services on Sundays and some weekdays at St Thomas's. St James’s has a regular service on 2nd Sunday afternoons, as well as on other occasions.
For others we have Coffee ‘Drop In’ on 1st and 3rd Thursdays and Parish Fellowship on last Tuesdays. We also hold special parish events such as concerts, sales and themed evenings.
At St James's we have Coffee ‘Drop In’ on the 2nd Thursday of the month and 'Soup and Sandwiches' on the last Thursday.
Our events are open to all whether you are a regular worshipper or not; you will receive the same friendly welcome in both of our churches.
We are always happy to receive enquiries about baptism (christening), weddings and other special services such as renewal of marriage vows which can take place by mutual agreement.
We extend hospitality to other community groups who use our church buildings, such as Aerobics, Keep Fit, Poetry and Weight Watchers, as well as accepting requests to hold children‘s parties and other events.
Our monthly magazine ‘Parish Link’ goes out to nearly 2500 homes in Osbaldwick, Derwenthorpe and Murton each month free of charge. This is a major part of our outreach, giving church and community news to everyone.
Our aim is to make the love of God in Jesus Christ known to those around us in personal, practical and stimulating ways. Please feel free to drop into either of our churches whenever you wish. You will receive a warm welcome!
