Osbaldwick and Murton Parish Link
April 2019 - Love is His Word, Love is His Way
As many of you may know, I am retiring as Vicar of this parish at the end of April. It has been a great privilege to be Vicar of Osbaldwick with Murton for the last twenty-one years, getting to know many people in the joys and the sorrows, the ups and downs of daily life. My wife, Pat, and I have been very happy here, for which we are thankful.
The Church will go on, of course, continuing to offer worship to God and to serve people in this parish and beyond. This magazine will continue to come through your door month by month because of the faithful, hard work of its Editor, Julie Wainwright, its contributors and all the people who print it, assemble it and distribute it. It has been a privilege to write for this magazine and to have been part of the team that produces it as it seeks to serve both church and community. As this year goes on the church website will be renewed and updated and I hope that many readers will visit it and enjoy its new presentation and contents.
Whatever means of communication we use and whatever technology is applied to receive it, the Church's purpose and message are the same - to share the good news of God's love in Jesus Christ with the community in which we are set, with the country in which we live and with the whole world, which needs to hear that message so urgently.
Jesus said, "I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."
That life, which is eternal and from which nothing can separate us, is offered by Jesus to all who believe and trust in him. He invites each of us to receive that life, which is his gift because of his limitless love. All we need to do, as he told his first disciples, is to " Come and see."
Thank you for reading this. May God bless you all with his love, joy and peace.
