Osbaldwick and Murton Parish Link

May 2019 - New Beginnings

As I write this, the clocks have just changed, marking the beginning of the new season. Spring is in the air and it’s time for seedlings to be grown and nurtured. You can tell I am a gardener can’t you?

The Parish Link is something that I have nurtured for many years. As you can see from the new heading on the front page, and amended layout it has grown too since we are now delivering to Derwenthorpe which is in our Parish. This could not have happened without the volunteers who have stepped up and offered to help, not just with delivering but with folding too. So a huge thanks to everyone involved, but don’t worry if you haven’t offered yet, we will be happy to welcome more volunteers!!

As May beckons, St Thomas’s and St James’s start a new beginning as we prepare to serve our church and community without a Vicar in place. During this “vacancy”, as the Church of England describes it, our services and social commitments will carry on as usual. We will do this together, with the help of many others too.

As we contemplate this next phase we need to be open to both change and challenges, both old and new. The Churchwardens and the PCC will work together during this time, as we nurture and tend the community and congregation. There are many challenges we now face, and a lot of work to be done to prepare for the future. May God guide us all now and in the future.

Julie
